Disc golf is surging in popularity in San Diego and across the country, according to a new report from the disc golf app UDisc.
The big picture: The number of new players, rounds played and events all increased at San Diego courses in 2025, according to the report.
Stunning stat: Balboa Park's Morley Field is the top-played course in the state, second most popular in the country and third most popular in the world, the report says.
Fun fact: There are more disc golf courses in the U.S. than Dunkin' Donuts locations, according to UDisc.
How it works: Disc golf is played like regular golf, but players toss small frisbees (discs) into netted baskets. The lower the number of tosses it takes, the better.
By the numbers: Players at Morley Field racked up 44,371 rounds in 2025.
- They walked 77,147 miles and spent 92,012 hours playing.
- At Escondido's Kit Carson course, they played 26,663 rounds, walked 53,889 miles and spent 52,443 hours playing.
Caveat: Those numbers are only from people who use the UDisc app, so the actual amounts are likely higher.
If you go: Tee time reservations are highly recommended at Morley Field.
