Dogs of San Diego: Pups compete on Super Bowl Sunday

Along with the Super Bowl, San Diego's cutest athletes are competing for the Lombarky Trophy in Puppy Bowl XXII this weekend.

The big picture: Cheer on "Team Ruff" or "Team Fluff" as Leo and Remy from the Helen Woodward Animal Center play alongside 150 other dogs in the annual event, which encourages pet adoption.

State of play: Leo, a terrier-mix, is an "athletic phenom" who's expected to make big plays, according to the animal center.

While Remy is a "ham for the camera" whose charm and charisma will bring good vibes in the locker room and field.
The Puppy Bowl will simulcast across Animal Planet, Discovery, TBS, truTV, HBO Max and discovery+ Sunday at noon.
