You might not think San Diego and Portland have much in common, but organizers behind the new San Diego Bazaar are betting on it.
Why it matters: A pop-up artisan market has been running in Portland for more than a decade, and it's coming here for this weekend only.
The big picture: More than 60 vendors will set up shop Saturday and Sunday at The Soap Factory in Logan Heights.
- Last-minute shoppers can browse home goods, ceramics, jewelry, clothing, CBD products and bakeries, organizer Delia Tethong told Axios.
- There will also be food and drinks for sale, a photobooth, DJs and arts and crafts for kids.

Behind the scenes: Artisans had to apply to sell at the bazaar, and organizers chose those with "very high quality design," Tethong said.
- The idea is also to bring people to the Logan Heights neighborhood, she said.
- "We want to create synergy and energy with that neighborhood, and try to get people out during the holidays and spending money locally," she said.
Flashback: The market started in Portland in 2011.
- It now has up to 175 vendors and attracts 20,000 people over two weekends, Tethong said.
- "It's become one of the big staple holiday markets in Portland," she said.
Moving south: That success led organizers to look for another city to branch to, and saw San Diego as having a similar size and close-knit artistic community.
- "So it seemed like a great next place for our sister market," Tethong said.
