Our editors requested fresh seafood on their San Diego visit, so we took them to Crudo Cevichería & Oyster Bar, a chic little spot with patio dining in Little Italy.
Dig in: We all got a taste of something new by trying and enjoying aguachile for the first time.
The Mexican dish features fresh, raw seafood marinated in a lime or other citrus juice, similar to ceviche, but ceviche "cooks" longer, while aguachile is served almost immediately.
Best bites: We ordered the mildly spicy aguachile verde with shrimp, lime, red onion, cucumbers and sliced avocado that's served with big blue corn tortilla chips.
The ceviche de atún with bluefin tuna, cucumbers, tomatoes and red onion in a bright and zesty leche de tigre, was a favorite.
Go for the gochujang creamy udon noodle dish with prawn and mushroom if you can handle some serious heat.
The crisp Spanish Albariño white wine paired nicely with the seafood, and helped cool down the udon bite.
Stop by: Crudo takes walk-ins and reservations for lunch and dinner daily at 1608 India Street, plus happy hour on weekdays.
