San Diegan goes viral for making plane pasta

Caveat: She didn't cook the pasta on the plane, just made the dough.

How it works: Brooks brought on board a bag of flour, a gnocchi board, a dough scraper and a bowl to keep all the ingredients together.

• After takeoff, she asked for a cup of water.
• She made the dough, cut it into pieces and rolled them on the ridged gnocchi board.
• It took about 15 minutes.
• Then she had a glass of wine.

What they're saying: "I could literally make pasta in my sleep," Brooks told Axios. "I've made it hundreds and hundreds of times."

Friction point: Before her video went viral in September, Brooks was a little nervous that the flight attendants would ask what she was doing, but they didn't notice.

• "I kept looking up at them to see if they'd know, but they were just doing their job and making sure everyone had seat belts on," she said. "They didn't even notice that I was making pasta in the front row."

But why? Brooks posts videos on Instagram to show how easy it is to make pasta, so doing it on an airplane seemed like a fun challenge.

• Her company, Buona Pasta Club, teaches pasta making and puts on pasta parties.

Flashback: Every Thursday was pasta night in Brooks' family, and that's where her love began.

• Her family owned a pasta shop, and every Easter they make 300 raviolis together.
• "Pasta runs in our family," she said. "So I've loved it since Day One."
