San Diego on the big screen in Leonardo DiCaprio's new movie 'One Battle After Another'

When "One Battle After Another" hit theaters today, moviegoers might recognize a few local landscapes and neighborhoods.
Why it matters: Scenes from the new epic action thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn and Regina Hall were filmed around San Diego County last year.
Zoom in: The crews were on set shooting around East Village, The Westgate Hotel, Otay Mesa, county parks, and areas near the U.S.-Mexico border.
- One explosive car chase — and crash — in the movie happened at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.
Follow the money: Warner Bros. spent about $7 million here while filming, including for lodging, food and paying movie extras and technicians, according to the county.
