Elton John paused his retirement for a hit-filled night for 27,000 fans at Friday's Concert for Cures at Petco Park.
Why it matters: The show raised over $10.5 million for Curebound, the San Diego-based nonprofit that funds early-stage cancer research.
What they're saying: "Now, more than ever, the scientific research community needs our support," said Anne Marbarger, Curebound CEO, while introducing John. "I'm going to say that again: Now, more than ever, the scientific community needs our support."
"Together, let us make San Diego the city that cures cancer."
