San Diego breweries win seven gold medals at Brewers Cup of California

• San Diego beers won nine other medals in the competition's 64 categories.

Zoom in: North Park's TapRoom Beer Co. led the local field with three medals, including a gold in the specialty stout category for its True Dark.

• Pizza Port Brewing Company won gold in the Irish-style red ale category for its Irish Hello. The company won a total of three medals, though one came from its San Clemente location.
• Burning Beard Brewing, Fall Brewing Company, Hodad's Brewing Company, Pure Project and the San Marcos location of Tarantula Hill Brewing Co. each took home gold medals as well.

Flashback: Six local breweries won gold medals last year, with Pizza Port winning four on its own.
