👋🏼 Kate here to rave about Communion, the new rooftop restaurant atop the pink Sasan building in Mission Hills that opened in November.
The vibe: It's a cozy, chic fine dining establishment that offers panoramic views of the city, a heated, open-air patio and a menu with dishes meant to share.
Dig in: We walked in on a weeknight without a reservation for our Axios holiday dinner, and while an abrupt, thick fog erased the view, the seafood was exceptionally tasty.
Best bites: A fresh yellowtail crudo topped with grapefruit slices and spears of kohlrabi and granny smith apple.
Crispy, but tender octopus over squid ink risotto.
House-made focaccia dipped in the coconut-tomato broth of a Manila clam dish that's not listed on the menu at the moment.
