Quartyard debuts new interactive light show in East Village

Driving the news: The self-guided, 50-minute tour takes visitors through interactive displays including responsive laser projections, reactive video and an LED light sculpture. 

• The visuals by local artists draw inspiration from urban city life and the electronic music scene of the '90s underground rave culture.

What they're saying: It's taking a "large scale concert experience and making it a more intimate art experience where the visuals are responding to you," designer Ben Guerrette told Axios. 

Zoom in: One installation, titled "Transit," is a 10-foot triangular structure made of LED light bars, designed for visitors to step inside.

• It creates a score using sounds from city buses, trains, cars and emergency vehicles, visualizing them as lights displayed on the sculpture.

If you go: City Lights runs Thursday to Sunday through Jan. 19 from 5:30-10:30pm.

• All ages are welcome, but there's a bar with tapas and cocktails for 21+ guests. 
• Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and free for kids under 5.
