San Diego FC set to play St. Louis in MLS home opener

San Diego FC will kick off its inaugural MLS season against the L.A. Galaxy on opening weekend Feb. 22-23, the league announced Monday.

State of play: Following their MLS debut, the team will host St. Louis City SC at Snapdragon Stadium in its first home match at 7:30pm on March 1.

Catch up quick: SDFC hired Mikey Varas as its first head coach and soccer analytics and player development specialist Tyler Heaps as sporting director.

They're building the club's roster, which includes Hirving "Chucky" Lozano as its marquee player. The team can select up to five current players during the MLS Expansion Draft, and has the first overall pick in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft. Both drafts take place in December.
SDFC's new $150 million campus and training complex is expected to open in January.

What's next: More 2025 MLS season schedule details, including the date and time of the Galaxy game, will be announced in December.
