๐ Congrats to Paul T. for recognizing the Crab Carillon, a public art installation on 25th Street bridge over State Route 94, between Golden Hill and Sherman Heights.
Zoom in:The piece, constructed by conceptual artist Roman de Salvo in 2003, is a "chime rail" consisting of 488 tuned chimes that pedestrians can "play" as they walk along the overpass.
He commissioned composer Joseph Waters to write a short musical palindrome for the piece, meaning it's the same forward or backward.
The latest: De Salvo is giving an artist talk on Wednesday at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library in La Jolla at 7pm.
