👏 Congrats to Andrew S. for recognizing the life-size bronze statue of Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss, and the Cat in the Hat outside UC San Diego's Geisel Library.
Why it matters: The campus landmark was named for Geisel and his wife, Audrey, in 1995.
Between the lines: The library houses the Dr. Seuss Collection that includes more than 20,000 items ranging from original drawings, notebooks, manuscript drafts, videotapes, photos and other memorabilia.
The big picture: The beloved author and illustrator lived in La Jolla most of his adult life and was an active philanthropist and dinner party host in the San Diego community.
He wrote some of his most famous stories from his home/studio atop Mount Soledad's Encelia Drive.
