San Diego's housing market continues to have far fewer homes available for sale than industry experts consider healthy.
Why it matters: Housing supply has a big impact on affordability.
By the numbers: At the current pace of sales, it would take about 1.7 months to sell through the inventory of homes on the market, according to a Redfin analysis.
Real-estate experts consider a market "balanced" when it reaches six months of supply, which hasn't occurred nationally since 2012.
Before the pandemic, in May 2019, the San Diego metro area had 2.1 months of supply.
