San Diego's housing market continues to have far fewer homes available for sale than industry experts consider healthy.

By the numbers: At the current pace of sales, it would take about 1.7 months to sell through the inventory of homes on the market, according to a Redfin analysis.
- Real-estate experts consider a market "balanced" when it reaches six months of supply, which hasn't occurred nationally since 2012.
- Before the pandemic, in May 2019, the San Diego metro area had 2.1 months of supply.
