Tribute Pizza again ranks among top U.S. pizzerias

Driving the news: Tribute Pizza ranks 36th on this year's list, same as in 2023.

• "Each pizza on the menu pays tribute to the original pizza makers from around the world," reads Tribute's translated write-up, citing its multiple homages to famous offerings of pizzerias from Brooklyn to Kenya.
• They're all "worthy replicas of the originals, in case you can't travel the world to try them all," 50 Top Pizza wrote.

By the numbers: New York is home to 17 of the country's top 50, followed by Chicago (seven) and Portland (six).

Zoom in: California put six on the list, including Truly Pizza in Dana Point at 42.

If you go: Tribute Pizza has been one of the best, most reliable, reasonably priced restaurants in San Diego since it opened in 2016, and it's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu.

My thought bubble: They're remiss not to mention Bees Mode, my go-to order that comes with a sweet and spicy combo of hot honey, ricotta, soppressata and pickled sweet peppers. Oh, baby.
