Enjoy world-class omakase at Sushi Ichifuji

Sushi Ichifuji, the Linda Vista omakase restaurant opened by a chef with Michelin pedigree from his time at Soichi, is one of the best restaurants in the city. Full stop.

The latest: Ichifuji just celebrated its one-year anniversary, and its reputation is still building steam.

What to expect: The restaurant seats its 10-guest dining room twice per night for an omakase meal — meaning, you turn the meal over to the chef for a multicourse affair.

  • Chefs Masato Fujita and Hiroshi Ichikawa offer two options: an eight-course meal for $160 with sashimi, nigiri, appetizers and cooked dishes; or a $140 meal with fewer courses.
  • They change the menu for each season.

What to try: You won't have many choices to make, but on the spring menu, the side-by-side sea urchin from San Diego and Japan stood out, as did the Japanese sardine.

  • They also offer a curated sake list that they'll be happy to drink with you.
