The weather is cooling off, so it's time to warm up with a delicious cup, bowl or plate of noodles.
The intrigue: It's National Noodle Day, and Pittsburgh has scores of starchy ribbons to sample across several different international cuisines.
- Here are our favorites:
Kyuramen x TBaar
The Tokyo tonkotsu shoyu ramen ($17.99) is everything you are looking for in a steamy bowl of noodle soup. It's packed with umami flavor thanks to the char siu pork and black garlic. The noodles are just chewy enough. Make sure to finish all the broth; you won't regret it.

Dish Osteria
Everyone loves the Spaghetti ai Frutti di Mare ($36) at this South Side institution. It's vibrant with fresh scallops, mussels, clams, calamari and wild shrimp, and it provides plenty of opportunities to slurp long noodles to your heart's content.

Everyday Noodles
Listen to the loud smack of chefs preparing fresh noodles while chowing down on some Szechuan-style dan dan noodles ($11). They're spicy, chewy and satisfying. I like the wide flour noodles for this dish.
π 5875 Forbes Ave., Squirrel Hill
Polska Laska
A Pittsburgh noodle list would be incomplete without Polish food, and the haluski ($12) at this Sharpsburg lunch spot is worth the visit. The egg noodles spaetzle are made from scratch.
π 1100 N Canal St., Sharpsburg
Noodlehead
The street noodle #1 ($15.75) at this popular Thai eatery gives diners a perfect combination of crispy fried chicken and succulent rice noodles all in a tangy lime sauce. BYOB.

When that autumn chill really hits, warm up with a brothy bowl of combo pho ($22) at this authentic Vietnamese spot. If you are feeling really fancy, try ribeye pho in the hot stone bowl ($38), which will keep your noodle soup piping hot throughout dinner.
