One of Pittsburgh's most storied high school football teams, Central Catholic, finally played on its own permanent home field.

Driving the news: The Central Catholic Vikings defeated the Pine-Richland Rams 48-24 at U.S. Steel Community Field on Friday.
- It was the first home game for the Vikings after the new football field opened in Hazelwood earlier this spring.
- A sell-out crowd of more than 3,000 filled the bleachers.
Context: Central Catholic used to play a most home games at Carnegie Mellon University's Gesling Stadium, next to the high school, while also using other teams' fields throughout Allegheny County.
What's next: The Vikings host Norwin at 7pm on Sept. 18 at U.S. Steel Community Field.
