Afters Cafe brews up more late-night options

The latest: Afters Cafe opened a second location in Lawrenceville in June, giving the city another coffee shop that is open until 10pm daily.

• Afters' Squirrel Hill location opened late last year.

Zoom in: The cafes were started to "celebrate life after work or class" and to provide opportunities to "unwind in warm surroundings," according to Afters' website.

Bottoms up: I ordered an Afters Latte, which is made with brown sugar, cardamom and clove syrup.

• It was rich with cozy spices, like a warm slice of pie before bed.
• There are also savory and sweet bites like turkey-feta paninis and baklava-flavored waffles.

The vibe: Comfy couches and cushions fill the small space, and a large window provides nice views of the buzzing Butler Street nightlife.
