The city is running at full tilt again this weekend for the Pittsburgh Marathon as the NFL clears out of the North Shore.
The big picture: Pittsburgh Marathon organizer P3R expects this year's event to be its biggest yet, with a record 52,000 participants across all events — attracting elite athletes and as many as 300,000 spectators along the course.
- Here's what to know about road closures, routes and what to expect.
Zoom in: Events for all ages and experience levels run Friday through Sunday, mainly Downtown and on the North Shore. The 13.1-mile half marathon and 26.2-mile full marathon wind through a large swath of city neighborhoods.
- The 5K starts at 7:30am Saturday on West General Robinson Street at Mazeroski Way on the North Shore, followed by the Champions Mile at 8:30am and Kids Marathon at 9:30am at the same location.
- The 1-mile Pet Walk loops through Point State Park at noon Saturday.
- The full 26.2-mile Pittsburgh Marathon starts at 7am Sunday, Downtown. It winds through more than a dozen neighborhoods and finishes near Point State Park. The half-marathon starts at the same time and location, with a truncated course.
- The 4-Mile Fitness Challenge will span Liberty Avenue from Downtown to Bloomfield starting 9:30am Sunday.

Expect road closures Friday-Sunday, starting noon Friday when Boulevard of the Allies will close between Wood and Stanwix.
