The Steelers are back in the playoffs, so it's time to jump on the bandwagon.
Why it matters: Football is life in Southwestern Pennsylvania, so if you haven't already integrated into Steelers Nation, it's a good way to connect with your fellow yinzers.
Here's my guide to faking like you are a die-hard during the Steelers' matchup Monday against the Houston Texans at Acrisure Stadium.
What's at stake: The team hasn't won a postseason game in nine years, the Steelers' longest streak without a playoff win since the 1960s.
- A loss could also mean that future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers would have played his final NFL game, as his future is uncertain.
- There's also uncertainty about longtime head coach Mike Tomlin's future with the team if he can't win a playoff game.
Be prepared for the game to start slow. Most Steelers games get exciting in the fourth quarter, like last week's divine gift against the Ravens.
- Pro Bowl wide receiver D.K. Metcalf returns from his suspension and will be Rodgers' best deep threat.
- The team's run game has improved throughout the season, so expect Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell to have good nights.
Stunning stat: The Steelers have won 23 consecutive Monday night home games and Houston is 0-6 all-time in the postseason on the road.
Having some background on the Texans will make the game more interesting and could impress fellow fans.
- The Texans are on a nine-game winning streak, bolstered by their incredible defense.
- Texans QB C.J. Stroud is known for throwing deep to Nico Collins and other receivers, but their offense often sputters without those plays.
- Because the teams' offenses aren't at the top of the league, expect a low-scoring game.
Ryan's thought bubble: T.J. Watt rushing at Stroud will be key. Maybe encourage Watt to get one of his patented strip sacks.
- I think Watt getting a fumble recovery could win the game for the Steelers, since the Texans rarely turn the ball over.
Some easy shoutouts to fake your know ball.
- Just mention Hall of Fame linebacker Jack Lambert's name one time during the game, like "Lambert would have made that tackle" or something.
- If the Steelers use a timeout awkwardly or get a delay of game penalty, say, "Tomlin sucks at time management." (He does.)
- "Let's get the run game going" is a perfect quip to use anytime.
Alexis' thought bubble: Winning just one playoff game is a low bar, but I think we Steelers fans will feel better about losing if we at least keep it close and competitive, unlike the last few playoff losses.
- If we win Monday night, it's Super Bowl or bust.
Break out your Terrible Towel when the game kicks off at 8:15pm.
- Resale tickets are still available.
