The intrigue: Severina Ristorante — a popular Italian restaurant and bar in West View — also has a lesser-known pastry counter serving some of the best Italian treats in the region.

Dig in: That includes sfogliatella ($8), a shell-shaped pastry filled with orange-flavored cream and surrounded by flaky layers of dough.

Severina's version provides the perfect contrast of rich and sweet, crispy yet soft.
