When Pittsburgh International Airport's $1.7 billion landside terminal opens Tuesday, travelers will find more parking and a faster route from their cars to the concourse.
The big picture: A new 3,300-space terminal garage and nearby surface lot — both about a five-minute walk from the terminal — add over 6,000 parking spaces.
Zoom in: The new garage features tech with overhead sensors, real-time space counts in each row and green lights showing available spots.
- Each color-coded level is named with local phrases such as "Robotics Row" and "City of Champions," making it easier to remember where you parked.
- A covered walkway through the customer service building connects the garage directly to the terminal and gives access to rental cars, ground transportation and other services.

Between the lines: The airport's remaining legacy lots, like long-term and economy, will merge into a new 8,000-space shuttle lot, connecting passengers to the terminal via an upgraded 10-minute shuttle service. Passengers can no longer walk from this lot to the terminal.
- Five heated shelters will feature digital screens with real-time shuttle tracking.
By the numbers: Parking in the terminal garage costs as low as $30 per day if booked ahead of time or $35 per day at the gate.
- The terminal lot is as low as $19 per day when reserved early and $25 per day at the gate. There are also hourly rates available in the terminal garage and lot, and a free wait lot for those picking up passengers.
- The shuttle lot is as low as $8 per day with advance booking or $12 per day when you drive up.
How it works: The terminal has three connected levels linked by elevators and escalators.
- The top is for departures and check-in; the middle is for arrivals and baggage claim; and the bottom is for taxis, ride-share, car rentals and public transit.
Zoom out: Drivers will continue using the same I-376 exits and entrance road to reach the airport. Those routes now connect directly to the airport's new roadway system, where updated signage guides both departing and arriving passengers.
The bottom line: Book early at PARKatPIT.com for the lowest rates.
