Duolingo adds chess battles and AI video calls

Pittsburgh-based Duolingo announced several upgrades Tuesday to its popular learning app.

The intrigue: Duolingo has moved beyond just language learning over the years — adding math, music and chess — and recent moves expand those offerings.

The details: Real-time chess matches between other learners will soon be available for iPhone users.

Chess will launch for Android users.
An AI video call feature is now available on the app's nine most popular languages for Duolingo Max subscribers.
Users can now post their real-time Duolingo scores on LinkedIn.
