"The Pitt" tops Emmy searches in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvanians are the only Roku users in the country who searched "The Pitt" more than any other Emmy nominee for Best Drama Series.

Why it matters: Across the rest of the U.S., people overwhelmingly searched for 'The Last of Us" and 'The White Lotus" — more evidence that few places devour on-screen representation quite like Pittsburgh.

State of play: Roku found the top-searched Emmy candidates in the Best Drama Series, Best Comedy Series and Best Limited Series categories.

Catch up quick: HBO Max's Pittsburgh-set hospital drama scored 13 Emmy nominations, including best drama and lead actor for Noah Wyle's role as Dr. Robby.

The series has earned praise from viewers and health care workers for its unflinching look at life in the ER.
Though most of the show is filmed in California, exterior shots of Allegheny General Hospital and Downtown landmarks keep Pittsburgh in the frame, along with nods to Wholey's, Primanti's, Freedom House Ambulance Service and more.

Yes, but: "The Pitt" will compete against other highly nominated shows, including "Severance," "The Penguin" and "White Lotus."

Zoom out: Pennsylvanians searched for the Philadelphia-based "Abbott Elementary" more than any other Emmy-nominated comedy.

"The Penguin," a spinoff of the 2022 film "The Batman," was the top-searched show in the Best Limited Series category in all 50 states.

What's next: The Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, air on CBS and Paramount+ this Sunday at 8pm.

Season 2 of "The Pitt" is slated to premiere in January 2026.
