Taqueria el Pastorcito serves craveable crunchwraps

With the crunchwrap celebrating its 20-year anniversary, I thought it prudent to share Pittsburgh's best version.

Dig in: Taqueria el Pastorcito makes mammoth crunchwraps filled with your choice of authentic Mexican meats: pork al pastor, pork carnitas, chorizo sausage, marinated chicken, carne asada steak, and even a mix of carnitas and carne asada called campechanos.

This version is meatier than Taco Bell's and delivers the charred, rich, and complex flavors of slow-cooked meat that no chain can replicate.
Queso is served on the side, instead of inside the wrap.
There is still plenty of crunch thanks to crispy tortilla strips inside the wrap.

The vibe: The restaurant's food truck travels around the region, and when I visited Old Thunder Brewing in Blawnox, a cold IPA complemented the crunchwrap perfectly.

The brick-and-mortar location in New Kensington is inviting with a casual bar serving cervezas.

Pro tip: Take advantage of Pastorcito's expansive salsa bar. Make sure to add some chopped cilantro to your crunchwrap to add some freshness.
