Pittsburgh-area Rep. Summer Lee forced a vote in a House subcommittee Wednesday evening to subpoena the Justice Department's documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.
Why it matters: The progressive Democrat from Swissvale surprised the GOP-led House Oversight Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement, and the 8–2 vote intensified pressure on the Epstein issue — a topic President Trump is trying to shake.
What she's saying: "I expect my Republican colleagues to care about this, because their constituents certainly care about child sex trafficking whether it's through the immigration system like this hearing alleges or by a U.S. citizen facilitating other powerful U.S. citizens."
"It's time for them to prove it."
What's next: Lee's move joined a new batch of related subpoenas that "will be issued in the near future," multiple outlets reported, per Axios' Avery Lotz.
