Pittsburgh's skyline view is craved by many and you have a rare chance to buy it, but it will cost you.
The intrigue: A parcel at 316 Cola Street in Mount Washington is up for sale, and the property has breathtaking views of PPG Place, the Steel Tower, and the rest of the city's iconic skyline.
Yes, but: It's pricey. The property is currently vacant and the land itself is listed for $400,000.
- A buyer can either build a home on the property, which real estate agent Justin Cipriani said will cost over $2 million, or follow a pre-set design that will cost about $2.4 million on top of the property purchase.
What they're saying: "Those views are so one in a million. It is so difficult to ever find a buildable parcel in this part of Mount Washington," Cipriani said.
- He said it can take decades for a residential property to become available in the hilly neighborhood's coveted "view corridor."
The details: The design imagines a minimalist and West Coast modern style two-story home.
- Four bedrooms, four and a half baths, an office, a three-car garage across about 4,000 square feet.
- An infinity pool looks out onto the Monongahela River and the skyline.
- The owner suite is on the lower level along with the kitchen, living room and pool patio.
What's next: Don't expect this property to sell fast. With the work that needs to be done and the price point, it can take between 1-3 years to find a buyer, said Cipriani.
