🪧 Residents rallied at the ICE office on the South Side yesterday as part of "Disappeared in America," a national day of action led by immigrant rights groups. Organizers, including Casa San Jose and Indivisible Pittsburgh, protested recent immigration raids at local restaurants and deportations without due process.
Jaime Martinez, an organizer with Casa San Jose, pointed to Wednesday's raid at Tepache Mexican Kitchen & Bar in Marshall Township — where immigration agents arrested 14 people — as the latest flashpoint.
"This isn't about making our community safer," Martinez said. "It's about cruelty ... We're persecuting people who dare to dream of a land that is safer and more prosperous."
