The Frick debuts dreamy greenhouse art show

Zoom in: "Catching Sunbeams from the Porch Swing of Wisteria Castle" is a collection of abstract sculptures from Pittsburgh-based artist Atticus Adams.

• Adams used metal mesh, wiring and other textile materials to create dozens of whimsical pieces that hang from the greenhouse's roof.

What they're saying: Adams, who was raised in West Virginia before moving to Pittsburgh, said the collection is inspired by the childhood memories that he leaned on during the COVID-19 pandemic.

• "During COVID, when everything shut down, I wanted to find a way not to be sad," Adams tells Axios.
• "The core of my work has been memories, childhood memories at my grandmother's, going in and out of her screen door. So that's one of the reasons I use metal mesh — that tactile feel of that. I try to channel just happy stuff."
