Pittsburgh will join cities nationwide today to mark International Workers' Day with a May Day rally and march.
Why it matters: Protests against the Trump administration have built momentum as he faces sinking approval ratings and Americans increasingly witness the ramifications of his policies.

- Participating groups include Pittsburgh's Labor Council for Latin American Advancement and Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, Casa San Jose, League of Women Voters and many more.
- Indivisible Pittsburgh will hold a separate May Day rally on Saturday from 12:30pm-2pm at the City-County Building, targeting billionaires like Elon Musk and Donald Trump for backing policies they say cut wages, erode worker rights and silence immigrants.
By the numbers: More than 70,000 protesters nationwide are rallying to oppose President Trump's deep spending cuts, hardline immigration policies and the direction of his first 100 days in office.
Zoom out: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) will join a Philadelphia rally at 4pm today.
State of play: This month's Hands Off! and 50501 protests marked significant, grassroots resistance to the Trump administration and Elon Musk's influence in the federal government.
- The movements share common goals like protecting immigrants and LGBTQ+ rights, preserving safety net programs and securing federal funding for public education.
