Each spring, vibrant pink Eastern redbuds brighten Pittsburgh's riverfronts and cityscapes.
Why it matters: The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy launched the Redbud Project in 2016 and has since planted thousands of the native trees, creating a striking seasonal display while supporting pollinators like bees and butterflies.
Zoom in: Top spots to catch the blooms include Point State Park, The Three Rivers Heritage Trail from Acrisure Stadium past PNC Park (you can find cherry blossoms dotted along the trail, too!) and outside Jim Ludwig's Blumengarten Florist in the Strip District.
Zoom out: To see hundreds of Japanese cherry blossoms (not redbuds), head to North Park, home of the Pittsburgh Sakura Project that maintains 250 ornamental cherry trees. The 2025 cherry blossom festival will be held 2pm-4pm on Saturday at the park's Harmony Shelter.
