Two Steelers-themed KFCs open in Mexico

Driving the news: KFC unveiled two Steelers-themed restaurants on Thursday.

• The locations are in Mexico City and Guadalupe in northern Mexico.

The vibe: Each restaurant is decked out in yellow neon, graphics of Steelers history and framed jerseys of past and present Pittsburgh greats like Franco Harris, Jerome Bettis and T.J. Watt.

Zoom out: KFC also opened four other NFL team restaurants in Mexico: two with the Kansas City Chiefs and two with the San Francisco 49ers.

• It's all part of the NFL's Global Markets Program, an initiative to build fanbases outside the U.S.

Fun fact: The Steelers have long had a large and enthusiastic fanbase in Mexico, and Mexican fans often travel to Pittsburgh for home games.

The bottom line: Hard to think of a better way or place to spread the gospel of the Terrible Towel than with some finger lickin' good chicken in Mexico.
