Missouri joins Kansas in early voting

How it works: You don't need a reason to vote early. A 2022 state law lets any voter cast an in-person ballot during that window.

• Bring a photo ID, such as a driver's license.
• Your county or city election office runs early voting. Look up which one is yours, then check its website for locations and hours.

By the numbers: About 7,300 Kansas City voters had cast ballots early by the Friday before the August primary, more than double the same point a year earlier.

• Shawn Kieffer, the Kansas City Election Board director, credited the two statewide amendments on that ballot.

What's next: Early voting in Missouri ends Nov. 2. Kansas' early voting window opened Oct. 14.

• If you'd rather vote on Election Day, Missouri polls are open 6am to 7pm. In Kansas, it's 7am to 7pm.
