Local clothing designers are creating World Cup-inspired apparel meant to meet the moment with colorful kits, U.S. Soccer collabs and collections of scarves and hats.
Why it matters: These aren't just T-shirts — they're memories and souvenirs from a once-in-a-generation event that's happening in Kansas City. That's why people are buying them and why designers have spent years preparing for this moment.
The big picture: Made Mobb, Charlie Hustle and other designers are putting their Kansas City spin on a summer of soccer.
Made Mobb's line of vintage jerseys captures international and local team spirit, including a bright orange pattern for the Netherlands and Kansas City iconography for repping the city.
- One designer's dad was a luchador wrestler, inventory manager Tommy Ho tells Axios. His face is in the details of the Mexico jersey.
- The line also has soccer scarves, plus other shirts and accessories, and has seen big demand for USA, Mexico, Netherlands and Argentina gear.

Charlie Hustle teamed up with U.S. Soccer for its host city collection, which includes vintage T-shirts, a hoodie and a letterman-style jacket.
- "We see this collection as a really special way for people to commemorate what is such a historic and exciting summer for Kansas City," Charlie Hustle said in a statement to Axios, adding, "These pieces make for great keepsakes and souvenirs."
Sandlot Goods, which sells its product online and in Made In KC stores, released a hat series called Summer of Soccer, featuring KC-forward designs, plus hats for Dutch and Argentina fans.
- The Confetti Dad Hat is sold out online.
💭 Travis' thought bubble: I bought an eye-catching T-shirt from Ampersand Design Studio, sold by Shop Local KC at Union Station's City of Entrepreneurs.

What they're saying: "Us being chosen for the World Cup, and for us to create jerseys for the World Cup, for international fans to come just to see us, it's just so awesome," Ho said.
- Both Made Mobb and U.S. Soccer have been working on their lines since the host city announcement in 2024. "It's been fun seeing the product come to life," says U.S. Soccer brand licensing director Alyssa Chargar.
- As for their sales success: "We owe it to Kansas City," Made Mobb owner Jesse Phouangphet tells Axios.
The bottom line: Local designers make it easy to wear Kansas City's heart on your sleeve.
