KC's Fan Fest will open the doors to dogs during three Sundays of World Cup celebrations.
Why it matters: Organizers said Tuesday they want Kansas City to be the most pet-friendly host city this summer, combining the passions of sports and pet ownership through animal activities and dog adoptions.
What to expect: Leashed dogs will be admitted during "Dog Days" on June 14, June 21 and July 5, which will also feature exclusive pet soccer kits while supplies last.
- Throughout the festival, a pet-focused area will include cat and dog treat samples, giveaways, customizable bandanas, pet adoption info, and a "leap of paws" attraction, where attendees can compare their jumping abilities with cat and dog breeds alongside notable soccer stars.

The latest: Purina will donate $50 toward every KC Pet Project adoption during the tournament, up to 400 adoptions.
- "We're thrilled that shelter pets and adoption will be part of the World Cup celebration," KC Pet Project CEO Kate Meghji said Tuesday.
Between the lines: Officials are being careful to prevent a fluffy kerfuffle — encouraging only well-socialized, vaccinated dogs that are accustomed to crowds and loud noises.
- Dogs are limited to one per owner, and registrations will be capped, though organizers haven't set a number yet.
- Purina officials said animal support staff will be available and pointed to their experience with St. Louis FC's Purina Club, a permanent dog-friendly space inside Energizer Park.
Context: Purina is based in St. Louis, has a distribution center in KCK, and was an early partner with KC2026.

What we're watching: Keeper, a shelter pup available for adoption as of Tuesday.
