Kansas City may hit 90 degrees this weekend, which means everyone suddenly has the same idea: Sit outside with a drink and don't go home anytime soon.
The big picture: The first hot weekend of the year turns every decent patio into a waiting game. These are spots where you can show up, grab a seat and not feel rushed out.
☕🥂Le Champion

Easy to miss, which is exactly why people like it.
- The patio is smaller and calmer than most Westport spots, good for a coffee that turns into a cocktail.
🍹Gram & Dun
The patio runs along Ward Parkway, so half the fun is watching everyone else walk by.
- There's plenty of seating and fire pits that keep it going after sunset. It's a see-and-be-seen location, but it never feels hard to grab a spot.
🍺 Brewery Emperial

This is a full beer garden, not a squeezed-in patio, but we think it counts.
- You can walk in, grab a drink and find space without hovering over someone else's table waiting for them to leave.
🍸Lifted Spirits
The drinks are the draw, but the patio makes it easy to stay.
- It works for groups, and there's enough room that you don't feel packed in.
🍷La Bodega

This is built for lingering. You order a few tapas, then a few more, then another drink.
- Tables sit close together, and the whole patio hums with people talking over drinks and passing plates.
🌳J. Rieger - Electric Park
This is less "table for two" and more "hang out and move around."
- There are fire pits, lounge seating and space to move around, so you're not locked into one spot all night.
🍇Tannin

Tucked just off Walnut Street in the Crossroads, this one feels a little removed from the noise.
- It's quieter, smaller and better for actually talking over a glass of wine and a board.
The bottom line: Everyone in KC will have this exact idea. Plan accordingly.
