Johnson County leaders are working to unify the county's suburbs for the World Cup with the formation of Johnson County United.
Why it matters: It's JoCo's way to get people engaging with its cities and hot spots, offering rides and things to do for visitors and residents.
Zoom in: A free airport shuttle service will connect visitors from KCI to Lenexa City Center and Overland Park Convention Center.
- Three new circular routes branch out from Oak Park Mall to the surrounding county, including places like downtown Overland Park, Leawood Town Center and downtown Shawnee (prices TBD).
- The website also displays regional events during the World Cup, and it compiles the county's amenities and history into one place.
What they're saying: "The goal is to make it easy and seamless for everyone to engage with Johnson County and all we have to offer," deputy communications director Jody Hanson tells Axios.
- "The world is arriving on our doorstep for the World Cup, and we are ready for the kickoff," Overland Park Mayor Curt Skoog said in his State of the City address earlier this month.

Follow the money: Funding is coming from several cities and Johnson County, plus existing state and federal allocations.
Zoom out: Johnson County United collaborates with KC2026 on security and shuttle pricing while providing JoCo-specific routes and events.
- For example, KC2026's airport shuttle only takes visitors to downtown KCMO.
- Other transit hubs, like Oak Park Mall, will connect KC2026 shuttles to Johnson County United transportation.
What we're watching: The price of the regional bus routes, which will be set in collaboration between the two organizing groups and has yet to be determined.
