USA Today nominates 2 KC attractions for travel awards

Two new Kansas City destinations are nominated for USA Today's 10 Best readers' choice awards for the nation's top travel and lifestyle attractions.
The big picture: There's lots to do in KC, and the country is noticing. Now, it's up to voters to decide the winners for each category.

Best New Museum
Museum of BBQ, which opened in July in Crown Center, finally gives barbecue "the scholarly treatment it deserves," USA Today writes. "Expect a serious exploration of how slow-cooked meat shaped American culture."

Best New Attraction
Atlas9, an interactive art display in Kansas City, Kansas, is "filled with noir hypnotists, scavenger-hunting animals and arcade rooms that look like they glitched out of 1995," we wrote when it opened in September. USA Today calls it "one of the Midwest's premier narrative-driven immersive experiences."
