It's one of those weekends where everything is happening at once: barbecue at the Speedway, a new Union Station exhibit, a KC Current game and the first signs of winter downtown.
Opening Day: Crown Center Ice Terrace
When and where: Friday. Free skate from 6–9am, then regular hours. Crown Center.
What to know: The city's outdoor rink kicks off its season with free morning skating plus coffee and hot chocolate. After 9am, admission resumes and skate rental is available. Dress warm and expect to wait if you come at peak times.
First Fridays in the Crossroads
When and where: Friday evening. Crossroads Arts District.
What to know: Galleries and studios open late with new shows and pop-ups. Start near 18th and Baltimore and ride the streetcar to keep it easy. Check out The Secret Show at the Bird Comedy Theater.

American Royal World Series of Barbecue
When and where: Friday, 3–11pm, and Saturday, 11am–6pm. Kansas Speedway.
What to know: Thousands pack the infield for one of the world's largest barbecue competitions with vendors, music and pit-side energy. Buy tickets in advance to skip lines, and check the schedule before you go.
Thundergong! With Jason Sudeikis & Friends
When and where: Saturday. Doors open at 6:30pm, show starts 7:30pm. Uptown Theater.
What to know: The homegrown benefit concert returns with music, comedy and surprise guests to support Steps of Faith, a nonprofit that helps provide prosthetic care and support to amputees who can't afford it.

"Titanic: An Immersive Voyage" at Union Station
When and where: Opens Saturday. Union Station. Timed tickets recommended.
What to know: Step through recreated rooms, see hundreds of artifacts, and try an optional VR dive experience. It's a national-caliber exhibit making its U.S. debut in KC.
NWSL Playoffs: KC Current vs. Gotham FC
When and where: Sunday, 11:30am. CPKC Stadium.
What to know: The league's Shield winners host the defending champs in a quarterfinal at the purpose-built CPKC Stadium. Expect a packed house and big-game energy.
