Dark Forest returned to Powell Gardens last weekend. It's less Halloween spectacle and more slow-build hallucination.
The big picture: The 1-mile trail runs through fog, flame and sound.
- KC-based performance group Quixotic plants aerialists, dancers and musicians along the path; fully lit, fully committed, and hard to miss.
💠Abbey's thought bubble: At one point, someone dangled midair in a net while the woods pulsed with red light. The crowd just watched. It felt like everyone forgot where they were.
What to expect: Extended darkness, low visibility, disorienting sound and a lot of flames.
- Trail opens at 7pm. Last entry is at 9pm sharp.
- Dark Forest runs Oct. 23 (21+), Oct. 24–25, Halloween night and Nov. 1.
