👋🏼 Abbey here. I went 40 minutes south of the KC metro to Louisburg Cider Mill this weekend because that's what Kansas Citians do once the air finally dips below 85 degrees.
I had a sugar rush immediately after this. Gif: Abbey Higginbotham/Axios
What to expect: There were goats. There were pumpkins. There were massive corn dogs. Oh my!
Nothing about it was groundbreaking, which is exactly what makes it worth going to. It's the definition of Midwestern.
💭Abbey's thought bubble: I drank a jug of hard cider, ate an apple cider donut that earned its reputation and immediately got lost in the corn maze.
This place is best when you just need some sunshine, a sugar high and the reminder that loitering counts as leisure.

If you go: Louisburg Cider Mill is open 8am to 6pm Monday through Saturday and 9am to 6pm Sunday. Admission is $15.99 during the week and $18.99 on weekends; children 2 and younger are free.
Weekends get crowded, so go on a random Tuesday if you want to skip the stroller traffic and actually hear yourself think.
