Events celebrating Taylor Swift's new album, "The Life of a Showgirl"

The album's theatrical experience, "Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl," will run Friday through Sunday at local theaters, including select AMC and B&B locations as well as the theater inside Union Station.

The 89-minute movie, which AMC says will play without previews, features behind-the-scenes footage and personal reflections from Swift in what the pop star said on Instagram will be a "dazzling soirée."

• O'Dowd's Gastrobar in the Plaza is kicking things off on Thursday with live Swift covers leading up to the drop at 11pm Central (free entry).

• KC Live! in Power and Light is rocking a Taylor takeover at dueling piano bar Howl at the Moon Thursday and a new album dance party at Mosaic Friday ($5–$20).
