On my run through Westport, I spotted something new (to me): the 9-foot bronze statues decked out in Chiefs gear, with jerseys for Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce and an Andy Reid get-up.
Context: The trio, sculpted by Tom Beard and dedicated in 1987, honor Westport's early power players: Alexander Majors, the freighter tied to the Pony Express; John Calvin McCoy, known as the "father of Kansas City"; and James Bridger, a famed frontiersman.
💠Abbey's thought bubble: If KC's 1800s businessmen and mountain men are ready for football season, I guess the rest of us better be, too.
Though, tell me that "Andy Reid" doesn't look more like the Lorax here.
