Kansas City's gearing up to celebrate Independence Day the loudest way we know how: with fireworks lighting up skies across the metro.
The big picture: From downtown lawn takeovers to suburban shows with food trucks and cover bands, there are plenty of ways to watch the sparks fly.
Thursday
- Lee's Summit Legacy Blast is a free festival with live music that kicks off at 6pm, with fireworks choreographed to music launching at 9:30pm at Legacy Park.
- Liberty Fest is full of family activities, food trucks and live tunes that start at 6pm at Liberty's Capitol Federal Sports Complex. The night wraps up at 10pm with a huge firework show. Parking costs $10.
- Northeast Johnson County Fireworks will have the cities of Fairway, Roeland Park and Westwood teaming up for a 9:45pm fireworks show at Bishop Miege High School. Grab a spot on the field – it's free!
- Red, White & Blue Springs will have gates open at 5pm at Blue Springs South High School's stadium with food trucks and music, and fireworks blasting off around 9:30pm.
Friday
- Stars and Stripes Picnic is Kansas City's official Fourth of July party at the National WWI Museum and Memorial. The lawn opens at 3pm with family-friendly fun and live music, and the fireworks show lights up the skyline at 9:40pm. You can also catch it on KCTV5 if you're staying in.
- Overland Park Star-Spangled Spectacular, OP's biggest Fourth of July party, returns to Corporate Woods Founders' Park. Enjoy live music starting at 5pm and a free fireworks show at 10pm to close out the night.
- Leawood Celebration in the Park is a festive gathering at Leawood City Park with kids' activities, face painting and more beginning at 6pm. Fireworks finale is at 9:45pm.
- Olathe Red, White & Blue, the city's annual fireworks display, kicks off at 9:45pm at the College Boulevard Activity Center. Tip: Arrive early. This show draws a crowd, and it's free.
- CPKC Current's stadium will host the Premier Lacrosse League All-Star event, with fireworks after the women's All-Star game. The show will begin right after the final whistle. Tickets start around $23.
- Monarchs at Legends Field will be where to catch some baseball and a big finish in KCK. The Monarchs take the field, and fans can stick around for postgame fireworks around 9:30pm. Tickets start at $19.
- Worlds of Fun will cap off Friday and Saturday with a 9:30pm. fireworks show. It's included with park admission, about $40 for a single-day ticket, so you can ride coasters by day and catch the sparkles by night.
Saturday
- Independence Day in Independence will be where to go if you're still craving fireworks. Gates open at 5:30pm with live music and family-friendly fun before the show lights up around 9:30pm.
