Beagles and beer: Rescue pups take over Bar K

I got the best surprise this weekend. I stumbled on a pack of 15 foster dogs from Beagle and Basset Rescue of the Heartland (BBRH) running laps around Bar K during one of their many adoption event.

What they said: Dan Munson, a volunteer, shared the story of Marley, a puppy he fostered with BBRH, to explain why adoption events matter.

• "He was crying when we first got him. But once he got to Bar K, he started to loosen up. That's the moment he became a dog again," said Munson.

Context: BBRH, a volunteer-run group, specializes in rescuing beagles and basset hounds, many from large puppy mills in Missouri and Oklahoma.

The bottom line: The pawsibilities to help out are endless.
