Huntsville voters head to polls Tuesday

State of play: There are five competitive races on Tuesday's ballot: City Council Districts 2, 3 and 4, and Board of Education Districts 2 and 3.

• Ryan Renaud, incumbent Board of Education District 4 member, ran unopposed and in July was declared the winner of the seat for this next term.

Zoom in: Polls will be open from 7am to 7pm. Check your registration, polling locations and precinct here. A sample ballot is here.

• Monday is the last day to cast or postmark absentee ballots or apply for an emergency absentee ballot, all of which must be received by noon Tuesday to be counted.
• Here's who you'll see on the ballot:

Council District 2: Incumbent David Little, Thomas Casez.

Council District 3: Incumbent Jennie Robinson, Liliana Peinder, John Stuart.

Council District 4: Incumbent Bill Kling, Nick Frevold, Will Pylant.

Board of Education District 2: Incumbent Holly McCarty, Matt Woolsey.

Board of Education District 3: Robert "Coach P" Person, Payten Redfearn (incumbent Andrea Alvarez is not running).

What we're watching: Results will be posted here as they come in Tuesday night, and the city will canvass election results at noon Sept. 1.

• If any runoffs are needed, they'll be held Sept. 22, and newly elected officials will take office the first Monday in November.
