Huntsville Culinary Month kicks off Saturday.
Why it matters: Huntsville is adding restaurants at an impressive clip, and the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau is providing a framework to celebrate and support every bite the Rocket City has to offer.
The latest: The CVB announced the details Wednesday, saying this year is highlighting the city's diversifying food scene, including a new offering: Food Truck Fridays at the Visitor Center.
- Every Friday in August, the CVB will host food trucks for breakfast and lunch, and the lineup is already set. Think: Happi Pappi Beignets, Corndog Cravins, and St. Paddy's Wagon.
What they're saying: "Huntsville, Madison, and Madison County culinary masterminds - a community of bakers, chefs, brewers, and mixologists – have placed Rocket City on the map as a foodie destination," Jennifer Moore, CVB president and CEO, said in an announcement.
Zoom in: The main event is Huntsville Restaurant Week, running 10 days from Aug. 14-23, featuring exclusive menus and special offerings from dozens of local restaurants.

How it works: Sign up for the free Rocket City Dish Pass, which goes live Saturday and provides a place on your phone to keep up with all the promotions and events, and lets you compete for prizes.
- Diners who use the hashtag #DineHSV could win gift cards to local restaurants, too.
Context: Huntsville's restaurant scene continues to bolster its reputation following the Michelin Guide's addition of two Huntsville restaurants, Salt Smokehouse and Purveyor, to its official recommendations.
- "Each year, the variety within our dining scene grows, and it is exciting to celebrate," said Pam Williams, who leads the Culinary Month effort for the CVB.
Catch up quick: Restaurant Week began in 2012, per the release, expanding with the addition of Culinary Month in 2022.
