Ready to get this weekend started?
- Here's a few options to help you plan it out:
π’ Party on the block
The Huntsville Times Building downtown is turning 100 and Downtown Huntsville, Inc. is throwing a party to celebrate from 12-5pm.
- Along with a featured presentation on the building's rich history and art deco design at 1pm, the free event will feature live music, vendors, food trucks, guided tours and Huntsville history trivia.
βΎοΈ Get out to the ball park
The Trash Pandas take on first-place Knoxville Smokies at 6:35pm Friday and Saturday, and 4:05pm Sunday in a potential playoff preview match-up, and they've got big plans.
- The first 1,000 kids receive a light-up pirate sword or princess wand "as Toyota Field turns into a storybook adventure" with actors, a 5:50pm parade, treasure hunts, face painting, immersive storytelling and fireworks.
- Saturday's game is Christmas in July with Santa, elves and more, a backpack drive, snow globe giveaway to the first 1,000 fans, and fireworks.
π¦ Shakespeare and butterflies
It's a big weekend at the Huntsville Botanical Garden.
- Shakespeare in the Garden will show "Much Ado About Nothing" Friday and "The Taming of the Shrew" Saturday. Tickets are $25 for members and $35 for non-members. Shows start at 7:30pm.
- There's also several butterfly releases planned for Saturday, at 10am, 11am and noon, with registration required. Tickets are $8 for members and kids 2 and under, and $20 for non-members.
π¦ Splash away the heat
The City of Huntsville is hosting Splish Splash Bash 2026 today, 1-3pm at Brahan Spring Park's Everybody Can Play Splash Pad for kids 3-5.
- Beyond the splash pad, they'll have popsicles, crafts and music for kids.
π€ Laugh it up
It's SHE-nanigans at Shenanigan's Comedy Theatre tonight at 8, when "the funniest women in Huntsville take over the stage" for an "unscripted, unfiltered comedy experience celebrating the feminine perspective."
- Head's up, the improv show is "rated R for REAL."
βοΈ Keep that umbrella handy
The forecast is less than ideal this weekend, unfortunately, with a Flood Watch in place through tonight.
- Saturday's chances of rain are 70%, but Sunday looks better: 20% chance of showers before 1pm, otherwise sunny with a high of 92.
