Local independent bookstores are banding together for the first Rocket City Book Crawl on Saturday.
Why it matters: Shop local, read books and win prizes.
How it works: Starting at 10am Saturday, grab a passport at the first store you visit, and collect a stamp from each one you visit.
Once you've collected them all, you'll be entered to win prizes like gift certificates and merchandise, and each bookstore has a limited number of book crawl totes available, too.
What they're saying: "More than anything, it feels like a way to highlight how each store in this area is unique and doing its own thing," Lady Smith, owner of The Snail on the Wall, told Axios.
"We expect a huge crowd," she said. "We have a huge community of readers and book lovers and bookstore shoppers in this area."
Driving the news: Smith's pro tip: Start right at 10am.
"We're ready to see a line before the store's even opened and it should be tons of fun," she told Axios.
If you get started early, there should be time to spend about 30 minutes at each store accounting for travel and coffee stops, Smith said.

The bottom line: It's a good day to beef up that to-be-read pile, with Smith noting the unplanned benefit that books qualify as school supplies for this weekend's sales tax holiday.
